From the moment you step into the large foyer of the Fortuna you feel this is going to be a night to remember.... This is something you have never seen before!
As soon as you take off your coat, your eyes are immediately drawn to the large stage at the back. Lights down, curtains up, ready for a great night out.
A European Spiegeltent (or magic mirrors) is the ultimate cabaret and music salon.
Built from wood, cut mirrors, canvas, leaded glass, and detailed in velvet brocade, Spiegeltents were used as travelling dance halls, Bohemian entertainment salons and wine tasting marquees during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They used to be the number one attraction at Belgian funfairs.
Each one is unique with its own name, personality, and style.
Only a handful of these special and legendary tents remain in the world and The Fortuna, owned by Dutch company Van Rosmalen, is one of the most beautiful, playing host to some of the world's greatest cabaret performers and musicians.
What makes the Fortuna so special? She is the biggest one in the Van Rosmalen collection, but it doesn’t feel this way.
From every angle you are able to see the thousands of mirrors and coloured glass. The many lights create an old-fashioned and warm atmosphere.
Her booths are cosy and intimate, but the floor is big enough to host the greatest of parties.
The lights on her façade make sure she is seen from far away.
As you get closer, you notice the amazing details on the front of this large Spiegeltent.
Big doors inviting you in what has to be one of the greatest Spiegeltents in the world.
